The Time is Now!

“There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness”–Proverbs 30:12

We are that generation! That which is wrong is now declared right. The time when right is wrong is now upon us. The avalanche of impurities have reached an all-time low. And it is reaching high into the nostrils of a holy God.

The Apostle Paul said that in the latter days there will be a form of godliness but the power of a changed life will not be evident. Many will come before the Lord saying, “And why call me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom it is like” (Luke 6:47).

Rebellion will be the agenda of the day. And truly the rebellion is not against the church but against the God of creation. Man continues to sin without consciousness of a reckoning day, but that day is coming.

What shall we do in the shadow of His coming to receive us unto Himself? We are to live soberly, righteously, feverishly praying, weeping for the lost, and yearning for others to enter into the Kingdom of God. Live in high gear in public and low gear in private with Almighty God.

“For we do not walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh” (I Corinthians 10:3).

We have secret weapons that the world knows nothing about. God has given us truth, faith, prayer, love, and service that invites our ever-present God to be with us.

Do you long for peace? Look into God’s Word and find Him. Do you long for victory? God has given us Himself. The Word of God will give you Christ.

Let us not go around stressed when we have the answer before us. He will never fail nor be unfaithful to His character. Look to Him and abide in His Word and He will give and give and give.

  • God’s Throne Rebuilds Us

“And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar, which was in the sixth year of the reign of Darius, the king” (Ezra 6:15).

Remember that God is in control. When the words and actions of world leaders disturb you, remember that God is on His throne and has all things under control.

Israel had rejected God’s warnings of judgment, but the prophet’s word came through. Jeremiah warned, cried, and the people ignored and rejected God’s warning to their own well being. The temples was torn down and the people of God were exiled in a land of idols.

Yet, God still restored His people to the land as promised. He used a pagan ruler by the name of Cyrus to fulfill prophecy. The temple was rebuilt and great joy was found in the midst. Over seventy years in captivity, tears that soaked the clothing and the ground, God made a way for His people to get back into the land of His choosing.

The trip was difficult for the Jews, life in the land was demanding; however, the courageous Jews paid the price to do God’s will. No matter how you and I may have failed in the past, God gives us the opportunity for a new beginning. God is still at work!

  • Conviction and Conversion

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of judgment is come” (Revelation 14:6-7).

Time is now short for the earth-dwellers, for no longer is it the day of judgment but now the hour of judgment.  In just a little while those who dwell on earth will face God’s wrath.  God’s mercy and compassion fail not.  Rebellious creatures are given an extreme measure from God to repent.  The eternal gospel during the days of tribulation is flying high with the voice of an angel.

Fear God, and give glory to him.”  Fear God ought to be the conviction that would fall upon every person who dwells upon the earth.  And this fear of God ought to lead to the conversion of every person who would no longer take the glory but give the glory to Almighty God.

We do not know how much longer it will before the God of glory returns to judge.  So we ought to be ready by fearing God and giving glory to Him.  Too many fear other things and other people while we need only to fear God and honor His Son by elevating Him in our daily walk.

  • Do We Fear God?

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction”

    (Proverbs 1:7).

We can tell if we truly fear the Lord. How?

    1. We joyfully delight in the Word of God.

Psalm 112:1 tells us, “Praise you the Lord. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who delights greatly in his commandments.”

    1. We passionately apply God’s Word to our everyday lives.

Psalm 128:1 proclaims, “Blessed is every one that fears the Lord, that walks in His Ways.”

    1. We place confidence in the promises of God.

Psalm 147:11 has said to each of us, “The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in his mercy.”

We need to get back to God’s Word! Anything that takes the place of God’s Word leads to idolatry.

  • Revival Means To Live in a New Way

“The LORD is good unto those who wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him” (Lamentations 3:24).

J.D. Grear in his book, “Jesus Continued”, said, “In an awakening, the Spirit of God does not typically do a “new” thing; he simply pours greater power upon the “normal” things faithful Christians are already doing. Prayers become more intense; worship becomes more joyous; repentance becomes more sorrowful; and the preached Word yields greater effect. The Spirit of God multiplies the effectiveness of our “normal” work of seed-planting, bringing a bountiful harvest. And he does more in a moment than we can accomplish in a lifetime.”

This is what I dream of everyday that I awaken from my sleep. Looking, longing for this is a great desire that many have for their churches and for their land. This passion should drive each of us to our faces before a holy and righteous God. Yet the passion runs deep and the need arises paramount.

Don’t you want to serve as a spiritual pyromaniac in igniting the heart of the church for Christ’s glory? Are you dreaming of this too? Could God do it here in Alamance County? Could you and I be used of God to help lead the way in a movement of unprecedented proportions to see the Gospel of God spread like wildfire and countless lives transformed?

  • The Mind of Christ

“How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is rather to be chosen than silver” (Proverbs 16:16).

Wisdom and understanding are worth more than gold and silver. God created the gold and God made the silver. We can find it in the earth and look for it in the ocean basins of the world, yet, wisdom and understanding come from above. God’s wisdom and understanding will make you rich in faith and wealthy in hope.

We do so much that rides against us when we do not seek the Father above. God has given us His mind and that mind is the mind of Christ. Instead of running off with our own religious thoughts God will give us His thoughts if we desire them more than all.

Dr. R.G. Lee was one of God’s prince preachers. One time Dr. Adrain Rogers asked Dr. Lee, “When God calls you on, is there some way we could put your brain in my head?” He replied, with a twinkle in his eyes, “That would be like putting a grand piano in a closet!” Better than having someone’s brain in your head is to have the mind of Christ in you by the Holy Spirit.

Don’t go out looking for something that is right under your nose. When we become impatient with people or disappointed in life we turn too often to our own ways. Turn to the Word of God and train yourself to depend upon the Spirit of God at every turn. If the Holy Spirit is not our Guide and we depend upon our own thoughts then we are doing even religious things that are empty of the power of Christ.

Father please teach us with the mind of Christ. We are a new creation in Christ. Your heart is to lead us and teach us. Therefore You died to live in us. Thank you for keeping us safe from our own thoughts. Your wisdom and understanding affords to us your direction and leadership. Thank you for giving us truth below the surface of our own understanding. Amen
