Four Important Truths

There are four important truths to learn:

  1. Take God seriously

He is the Sovereign God of the universe. He is not the man upstairs or the good guy next door. From the day of our conception to the day of our death we are to hold Him in awe.

  1. Believe His Word

We have the mind and heart of God in print. Many paid a great price to hand it off to each of us. He is honored as we read and heed His message from His own lips that are breathed out in print in our own language. The Word changes us to His truth.

  1. Confess Sin Quickly

Get your minds off of the evening news or any news that would preoccupy you. It’s a fog that can disillusion you from the real world. Yes, be in the know, but do not allow your life to be accumulating sin. Confess and walk with God under a full sun.

  1. Refuse All Hypocrisy

Be who you are and not who others will you to be. Find your identity in the Lord Jesus Christ. Keep yourself off of the pedestals of this world or even your own world. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. We are accountable to Him.

  • Grace, God’s Grace

“And of his fullness have we all received, and grace for grace” (John 1:16).

When you and I look into a river and perceive the fish swimming we would like to reach in and stop the water flow and catch the scene for a while. But we can’t because the current is heading downstream and it is strong, yet it was never meant to be stopped and caught.

While God gives us grace He desires for us to enjoy what He does for the moment but He doesn’t want us to reach in and try to stop it. He has more grace coming downstream that will pass by our eyes. It is wave of grace upon grace that He sends our way. We were never meant to stop the flow of grace and hunker down and bask in it.

Do you remember when Peter, James, and John were with the Lord Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration? They were asleep on that mountain. And all of a sudden they were awakened and saw the Lord Jesus speaking with Elijah and Moses about His upcoming death and resurrection.

Peter spoke up and wanted to build memorial booths for the occasion, and God the Father said, “This is my beloved Son, hear ye Him” (Matthew 17:5). God had more work to be done, more grace He wanted the disciples to see.

What about us? Are we satisfied with what the Lord has done thus far? Are we now satisfied that the debt renovation is now paid and there is no other territory to explore? Are we satisfied that no more people can be saved? Are we enjoying what has been accomplished and have no more get up and go for God?

God’s grace is new grace, continuous grace, uninterrupted grace that exceeds all we could imagine. Each spiritual blessing we appropriate becomes the foundation of greater blessing. God’s grace is like a mighty Niagara, thundering unending out of eternity into our hearts and lives.

Let us look into the future and ask God what He has in store for KMBC. He has an inexhaustible supply that every believer is given for all he or she needs in this world and the world to come. Pentecost filled the believers with Christ Himself and yet God emptied the upper room into the streets of Jerusalem. That is what God wants to do through us today and tomorrow and the future.

Let’s get full of Him and allow Him to carry us from grace to grace.

    I Love you,

  • Unlock the Day with Praise

“I will praise thee, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing unto thee among the nations” (Psalm 57:11).

A heart that is not awakened to God will cause spiritual drowsiness, but awakened to God will create excitement and praise. There is nothing more boring than a heart that is sleepy toward our great God.

David points to his own heart and says, “My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and and give praise.” What is fixed? The heart, the conscience, the will, the affections which draws the mind afterwards.

While we sleep God is working for us. When David awoke he wanted to tell the whole world what God had done for Him. God answers prayer, and whatever He does is for your good and His glory.

  • Asking for Her Dad’s Approval

Adoniran Judson and Ann Judson boarded a ship for India that would eventually lead them to Burma (modern-day Myanmar).  They suffered and endured much on the mission field, yet they were used by God in some extraordinary ways.

A letter was written from Adoniram to Ann’s father asking for permission to marry his daughter.   The following is Adoniram’s candid request:

I have now to ask, whether you can consent to part with your daughter early next spring, to see her no more in this world; whether you can consent to her departure, and her subjection to the hardships and sufferings of missionary life; whether you can consent to her exposure to the dangers of the ocean, to the fatal influence of the southern climate of India; to every kind of want and distress; to degradation, insult, persecution, and perhaps a violent death.  Can you consent to all of this, for the sake of him who left his heavenly home, and died for her and for you; for the sake of perishing, immortal souls; for the sake of Zion, and the glory of God?  Can you consent to all this, in hope of soon meeting your daughter in the world of glory, with the crown of righteousness, brightened with the acclamations of praise which shall redound to her Savior from heathens saved, through her means, from eternal woe and despair?

Ann’s dad said “yes,” the couple was married, and a year later they set sail.  Ann’s dad would never see his daughter or son-in-law again.  In fact, Ann would lose her life sharing the gospel with people who had never heard the good news of Jesus Christ.

John Piper said, “God’s plan is that his gospel-spreading, church-planting purpose triumph through the suffering of his people.”  Is this out-of-the-ordinary type of commitment or are we too far behind in our passion for Christ and His gospel?

  • A Foundation That Will Never Be Shaken

    Dear Church,

Our hearts are saddened by all the damage inflicted upon mankind with the destruction from Hurricane Helene.

May I give some critical thoughts for consideration?

    1. Natural disasters give us the opportunity to respond to God.  We can be angry, especially if it were our house, our business, our child lost in the rushing water, or the fallen tree.  Or we can stand in awe of the mighty power of the Almighty.
    1. The ground shook in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee as did the other states where landfall occurred, and the storm moved up and left.  The only thing that matters to many is to be able to find firm ground to stand upon.
    1. The Bible instructs us to make sure that our lives are built upon a foundation that will never be shaken, a foundation that is not subject to the unpredictable forces of nature.
    1. At Mt. Sinai, the Bible records the first earthquake as God gave the law to Moses.  Why?  God expects and commands those who are created by Him to tremble and be in awe of His power.  His voice speaks of the content of the moral law; the voice of nature (earthquake) spelled out God’s power and authority.  The Ten Commandments shouted His rules for living; the Trembling of Nature shouted His rules for worshipping.  We are to fear Him for this is not only appropriate but commanded.
    1. God also spoke at Mt. Calvary and the earth quaked.  Jesus spoke words of kindness, mercy, and love even while He was being judged for our sins.  We should listen. “Be careful that you do not refuse to listen to the One who is speaking.  For if the people of Israel did not escape when they refused to Listen to Moses, the earthly messenger, we will certainly not escape if we reject the One who speaks to us from heaven!”  When God spoke from Mount Sinai His voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise:  “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.”
    1. The earth will not go on forever.  Earthquakes and hurricanes remind us that life is short and that God will re-create a new heaven and a new earth.  Only what is eternal will remain.
    1. We are to know that tragedies are teachers that instruct us to hold on to Christ tightly and hold everything else loosely.

The Eternal Kingdom will never be shaken.  Find your Firm ground to stand upon and thank God for His Unshakeable Kingdom.

  • Do You Know What Winning Looks Like?

“And he said unto them, Why are you troubled? And why do thoughts arise in your hearts?”  (Luke 24:38)

Hudson Taylor wrote to his staff of the China Inland Mission to prod them on: “If our mission is to be fruitful, and continue amid the perils that must be faced, it can only be as each of us contributes his daily quota of faith in the living God.”

What is this daily quota of faith? It is that God is alive and we are His servants. Our greatest step will be whatever the next one is. Look up! Your God is alive. Look down! The Bible is your answer.
God wants to reroute our lives. But too many have lost sight of God. But there is nothing too bad, or anything too rough, that God cannot reroute. If you are in a tight place or a tight spot, remember that God is working on your behalf for His glory.
  • The Right to Lead

“O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy
    servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who delight to fear thy name;
and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the
sight of this man. For I was the king’s cupbearer” (Nehemiah 1:11).

The basis of courage is individual initiative. If we cannot act alone, we
    cannot act together.

God has given us the power to lead. Our knowledge and skill developed by God
in us has given his people the ability to lead.

But it is only under the most difficult of circumstances that character and
courage earns us the right to lead.

Nehemiah led, even under great adverse situations to rebuild the walls of
    Jerusalem.
