Don’t Miss This

“The Lord said to Moses, “Why do you cry to me? Tell the people of Israel to
go forward” (Exodus 14:15, ESV).

The children of Israel were facing a dilemma. The army of Pharaoh behind
them and the Red Sea in front of them. The mountains flanked them. What
would they do?

God said to Moses to take the children of Israel forward. “Go forward” the
Lord God said. Moses did not choose to be nostalgic about the past to what
God has already done.  He could have prayed and not listened to God. After
whining Moses could have said, “You are on your own.” Moses could have
disobeyed God.

Moses led the children of Israel forward into a massive sea. In that moment
of crisis he led them forward. This is a Red Sea Rule. Quit marinating on
the ups and downs of your life. Fix your gaze on the present and look to the
future and go forward. Do what God has said to do.

Solomon says, “Let your eyes look forward; fix your gaze straight ahead.
Carefully consider the path for your feet, and all your ways will be
established. Don’t turn to the right or to the left; keep your feet away
from evil” (Proverbs 4:25-27).

Francois Fenelon said, “To just read the Bible, attend church, and avoid “big” sins – is this passionate, wholehearted love for God?” Is the church missing what God intended her to be? In many ways, and I’m nervous about it, the church is not doing so well.

It used to be that “Good Christians” avoided drinking, drugs, sex, swearing, and fought their desires in order to please God. That is the way many were brought up during the Christian culture of the day. In reality and hindsight, I don’t believe the church’s teachings were incorrect, just incomplete.

If we would get into the Word of God and think Biblically instead of conventionally, it would change our paradigm. Our thinking would explode and it would be exhilarating. We have all we need. We have all of Jesus we need. What we don’t have is to want Jesus more.

Are you bored with American Christianity and that which it offers? Do you want to rise above the plateau of the American style of doing church? Would you want to get to the place where you would rather die than let go of your convictions in Christ?

“More God” and “more life” follows. Not to be immune from self-giving is to realize how wonderful God is. To not hold back anything but to give all is the utmost way to live. To be totally abandoned is to be totally absorbed.

God wants to lead a group of comfortable people into lives of risk and adventure. He wants us to love people like we never have before and to go to extremes to do just that.

  • We’ve Got A Song: Is it worth listening?

“How happy is the man who has put his trust in the Lord” (Psalm 40:4).

If you have not met Satan face to face, it’s because you are running in the same direction. So many of us are asking for trouble, so why are we not happy when we get it? We are so smart about so many matters, we might have a smart head, but our brains run ahead of good sense.

Tragically, there are literally millions of people who know the NAME of Jesus Christ, but who know nothing of the LOVE and SAVING GRACE of Christ as Lord and Savior. Many people think of Christ as the Savior who takes instead of the Lord who Gave His life to give us our lives.

The Lord Jesus came to earth prepared to FORGIVE us for our sins and mistakes, asking only that we TRUST Him, BELIEVE into Him, and ASK for that forgiveness. Then He not only forgives, He FORGETS.

That’s the Jesus we should love. Can’t you sing? Surely we got a song in the heart! That song is a gift from God. We don’t earn it for He gave it. We get to sing THAT song to a world that is living in minor key. Use that song or it will be gone. Lots of people out there who need to hear the SONG of God. Happiness in the Lord overflows when we place our trust in the Lord.

  • His Rule

“The Lord has prepared his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom ruleth over all” (Psalms 107:19).

We live in a world of evil. It doesn’t matter where one goes there is evil and wickedness. Sin abounds in every city, town, village, country, continent, and island.
One day the nations of the world will come to worship God. His kingdom is coming and all who love Him will see His appearing. While sin abounds grace doth more abound.
We should desire His kingdom more than our kingdom. Our lives are pretty selfish and come to a halt quickly. It is God who forgives us of our iniquities. “For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.”
Today, realize that God rules and His kingdom will not be overthrown. That means that all things and people will be brought under His sway and brought into His purpose.
The governments of the world try to eliminate health problems by giving good health coverage, and try to promise better education for our children, but it is an illusion to believe that it will happen. Yet there is One who is able to do more than we can ask or think. God and His just rule and compassion will not falter or fail.

  • Perpetual Joy

“And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even” (Numbers 19:19).

We can not be part-time Christians. We are all in full-time Christian service, or we should be. A man who is faithful to his wife most of the time is not faithful at all. A man who is a Christian and something else is not a Christian in deed.

Have you noticed that birds do not sing because they have an answer, they sing because they have a song. When sin has touched us we are deadened and saddened. Yet God has made a way for us to be cleansed from all defilement.

God has given you the power of the third day for continual cleansing and joyful singing. Wash yourselves in the ongoing work of the cross of Christ. Out of His wounded side flows the blood and the water. Confess and turn back to your God today for the song He gives.

  • Expectations: The Wise Men

“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).

They (the wise men) came from a great distance, with difficulty, and even through the midst of danger, to find their Desire–the Lord Jesus. They knew that all of life was found in that Child, the Desire of nations.

To superimpose selfish expectations onto the Bible and our own personal relationships with God is to short-circuit that which God desires. We should understand that God is anxious to “make me” rather than for Him to “give me.”

God is the One that we must seek, the God who is, not as the God I want. Our expectations toward God is to change the desires of my heart to fit into His desires for me. To delight in the Lord is “to be soft or pliable.” We are to be soft clay in the Potter’s hands, to come before Him without any heavy demands that we want but to look to Him for who He is.

Instead of telling God what my desires are, we are to come to understand and know Him. What is His character? What are His attributes? How can I worship and serve Him more acceptably? Then an amazing thing takes place: His desires become my desires! When I know Him I will desire what He desires and will pray and serve in that wonderful, freeing capacity.

  • The Time is Now!

“There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet are not washed from their filthiness”–Proverbs 30:12

We are that generation! That which is wrong is now declared right. The time when right is wrong is now upon us. The avalanche of impurities have reached an all-time low. And it is reaching high into the nostrils of a holy God.

The Apostle Paul said that in the latter days there will be a form of godliness but the power of a changed life will not be evident. Many will come before the Lord saying, “And why call me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom it is like” (Luke 6:47).

Rebellion will be the agenda of the day. And truly the rebellion is not against the church but against the God of creation. Man continues to sin without consciousness of a reckoning day, but that day is coming.

What shall we do in the shadow of His coming to receive us unto Himself? We are to live soberly, righteously, feverishly praying, weeping for the lost, and yearning for others to enter into the Kingdom of God. Live in high gear in public and low gear in private with Almighty God.
